Explaining the ‘Moral Budget’

Doug Shapiro
Dec 10, 2020

In this interview below with Christian Murray of the Queens Post, I explain what I mean by a ‘moral budget.’ A moral budget means we must increase our funding for healthcare and education. A moral budget means committing public resources to the foundational investments that will help us build a stronger society. A moral budget, over time, will lead to more jobs, higher incomes, healthier people and equitable economic growth. I am running to succeed Karen Koslowitz in District 29 (Rego Park, Forest Hills, Kew Gardens, and Richmond Hill) because we are going to need a moral budget to heal together from this year.
